Who is the boss? Are these employees in charge or is it someone else ???

In my last job I started the same day as another worker, we became very friendly and used to go to lunch and went out a few times...

She was offered the job of Supervisor, our Manager of Department had a talk with her explaining that as she was now part of the management she should no longer fraternise with the ordinary workers. She then went to lunch with the Manager and although she would deign to speak to me outside the work she could not acknowledge any friendship between us she was not able to be 'friends' !!!

My feelings of friendship changed and I thought of her as being very uppity but I did 'sort of' understand the position she was put in by our Manager... But it ended our friendship.

It's very difficult to be real friends with employees if not impossible.
